This summer, beginning June 5, CFFS is offering weekly morning “CrossFit Kids” camp sessions. CrossFit Kids is a fun, active way to teach kids physical, and social skills while building confidence. Children learn foundation movements (squat, push ups, climbing, jumping, gymnastics movements), but more importantly, they continue to learn and build on being able to follow directions, listen, communicate, and play with others.

Each class is coached by professionals, who have competed at some of the highest levels in CrossFit and have multiple certifications. They work with children and adults year-round on functional-fitness, at all skill levels. CrossFit Full Strength is one of the oldest affiliates in the Valley.

Develop the skills to become a BETTER ATHLETE: be faster, be more explosion, be stronger, be more well rounded.  Your child will get 4 days each week packed with different movements in a safe and fun environment.  This is unlike any other athlete camp your child has done before!

WHEN:  Starts June 5th, 930am-11am

WHERE:  CrossFit Full Strength

WHO:  Boys and Girls 7-14 years old

PRICE:  1 Week = $70.  Multiple weeks and multiple children receive huge discounts!  Just register and the owner will get in contact with you.

Ever dreamt of combining a couple CrossFit WODs, biking a 5k, running a 5k, and hiking Camelback to create the perfect team competition? Probably not because its just too crazy! December 11th, 2016, Full Strength, will be hosting “Break the Camel(s)back” for the 2nd time!

So being one of the original CrossFit gyms in the Valley we decided to make this a fun day and go back to the roots of CrossFit.    While this is a competition we want to avoid turning this into a “CrossFit Games” mentality and complain about awful judging.  THIS IS FOR FUN!  We will be donating for a great cause…with that said…you will be counting reps for your team.  Yes, this is on the honor system.  We will have RX and a scaled divisions.  You are not winning $5,000 or securing a spot for regionals.  We are doing a day where you know your money spent is going to the AAWL…not our gym bank account to buy new equipment.  If you want to have a blast…this is the competition for you.  If you want prize money and think its dumb we don’t have legit certified judges…hold off on this because you may decide that CrossFit Competitions are actually just for fun and should be run for a good cause.

HISTORY

Coach Emily decided to throw out the idea of a CF Comp based off of Triathlons.  At first it sounded crazy, but we sold out in 48 hours.  With 50 teams (150 people) and only 2000 sq feet we had the perfect competition.  We couldn’t host it again because we knew it would grow and we didn’t have the space.  Now we have 5,000 sq feet and want to blow this up!

 

Currently the day is planned out as:

Athlete 1: WOD1- WOD at Full Strength
Athlete 2: WOD2- Bike to trailhead at Camelback Mountain/Run back to gym (about 5K)
Athlete 3: WOD3- Hike Camelback; Bike back to gym
Athletes 1,2,3: WOD4- Group/team WOD at Full Strength

We will be donating proceeds to the AAWL.

CrossFit Open 2016

Its official….Registration for the CrossFit Open is live.  You can now register for the 5 week Open competition and compete along with thousands of CrossFitters from around the world.  This is the first step to getting to the Home Depot Center as an individual or as an Affiliate Team.

February 25nd CrossFit Headquarters will release the first workout of 5 for CrossFitters to do either at home or at a registered Affiliate.  CrossFit Full Strength will have this workout scheduled each Saturday so members can participate easily.

You are probably thinking, “What if I just started or am not planning on advancing?”

Gayle’s answer, “Do it to be a part of something at the gym and to support CrossFit Full Strength!”

 

Maybe you haven’t even done your first CrossFit class and you are reading this…SIGN UP

We are encouraging all FS Members to register for the Open regardless if you plan on competing.  The more members we have on these Saturday classes the more fun it will be for everyone and raise the energy.  At Full Strength we have some amazing athletes that have aspirations of advancing to Regionals for their first time as well as athletes that will be repeat competitors at Regionals.  Lets all support each other by participating.

Do you feel that you could improve upon your flexibility and range of motion? Would you like to maximize your training potential and be able to recover faster each time you jump into a CrossFit workout?

“Being able to use your full range of motion while performing a strength building exercise first requires flexibility, and then mobility is used to move the load through your full range of motion utilizing strength.”

Flexibility and mobility can mean many things. An accurate definition means that you have exceptional range of motion during most of your gym movements, you are free of pain and soreness more than the average person, and you have very few nagging restrictions and tight areas in the body.

So what happens when you reach this level?

You feel heated and supple before each workout

Your body recovers from workouts faster

Those nagging pains in your neck, shoulders, and legs decrease

You are able to front and back squat deeper than you currently do

Shoulder tightness decreases allowing you to press overhead with ease

Tipping forward at the bottom of a wall ball or thruster reduces

You begin to develop better balance and strength during single leg pistols

You notice progress in your wrist and shoulder flexibility during a front squat and clean

Overall body pain and sorenss is reduced, with injury potential at it’s lowest

You maximize your deadlift, snatch, and overhead squat strength giving you that extra bump up you needed in your PR. (Yes, flexibility assists strength and power!)

CrossFit Kids Camp for July…

Ours CrossFit Kid’s Training Program…

did so well that we are running it through the month of July. Camp is Monday through Thursday from 9:30am-11am. This camp is only $60 for the week or $200 for the month. Your child will gain confidence, strength, more body awareness, and just walk out knowing that they can do something that most kids don’t do! We do not baby sit…we coach your child to be the best that he/she can be.

This last month we had kids back squat, press, olympic lift, and surpass what they thought they could do. Your child should be lifting…in the right environment. You have no idea what 1 week of CrossFit will do for your child…
